A USB camera on a seven-inch ESP32 screen

The first viewer uses a Windows bridge to carry endoscope-camera video to the touchscreen.

Decisions and development

The PC captures the camera with FFmpeg, encodes JPEG and sends frames over UART. ESP32-S3 decodes to RGB565 and renders with LVGL on the 1024 × 600 Waveshare panel. Receive credits and CRC protect against overflow and corrupted frames.

Firmware 0.2.0 implements freeze, zoom, rotation, mirror, brightness and BMP photos on microSD. The recorded 20 September test received and decoded 71 images, handed 70 to the renderer and reported no video errors. Approximately 3 FPS at 320 × 240 were observed.
